#longform ### **Platform Sandbox** ## 2018 *Elements:* [[Randomness]], Found digital objects, [[Play]], Cartesian [[Space]], Internet archives *Premise:* I want to think about the future of design software: a [[tool]] that will collapse [[model]]ing and rendering through game engine technology. Software is the most comprehensive intellectual project one could undertake today. **Platform Sandbox** Author: Damjan Jovanovic Medium: [[Software]], Interactive [[Simulation]] Platform: Made with Unity, programmed in C# Duration: infinite, real time Platform Sandbox is a [[Software]] for architectural education. It presents an alternative take on the software tools used within the field of architectural design. The main interest behind this project is conceptual examination of the technical, aesthetic and political [[Default]] embedded inside the tools/platforms that architects use for form making. Platform Sandbox playfully engages with the history of digital form-making by introducing the Duchampian notion of “Playful Physics” through [[Randomness]] and chance operations, in order to enable a more relaxed relationship with technology and disrupt the ethos of obsessive exactitude. Its ultimate goal is to promote software criticality and self awareness for the generation of digital natives in architecture.
